Hello,

1)
To design a generic pond you could use some of the Roading Functions like APPLY or APPLY MANY to create some banks of the pond.
Position of option on menu: Design =>Apply =>Apply
Position of option on menu: Design =>Apply =>Apply many
You could also just CAD it up using the cad toolbar creating superstrings at elevations for the top and bottom of the bank.

2)
To be able to produce volumes you need a surface – triangulation model – TIN.
You can create this using:
Position of option on menu: Tins =>Create =>Triangulate data

3)
To Calculate a volume at different depths or elevations you can use:
Position of option on menu: Design =>Volumes =>Exact =>Storage calcs
You don’t need to design the water level as it is assumed to be flat and the above option will calculate that.

I am not sure if you have access to any of these in the Practice version, but good luck.

Let us know how you go.

Sam
Cheers

interfacing

Post by Ben Pain »

if you want the pond to have a specific depth you could use the interface function

design -> apply -> interface

and create a tin at a depth to interface down to.

its pretty much how i designed a cleanfill in kaipara. except upsidedown

interface to a tin. you may have to do it in steps as the interface line might get a bit crazy and youd have to edit it so it doesnt intersect itself. (ie use trim, split, etc)

then use the interface lines youve created to make a pond tin, then work out volume from there.
