Hi Henry,

I recommend you have a read of the following section of the help:

Help=>12d Model=>2 Tools and Concepts=>Data Types

This describes a lot of fundamental stuff about 12d.

Owen.

simplistic answer would be:

alignment VS super-alignment

sort of like
little diesel engine VS turbo charged v12 petrol
(ford vs holden)

one is good, quite alright, does the job
the other
is all that on steroids, the big kahuna - mama of all alignments

alignments often used by surveyors as they may be part of simple module licenses (can't recall which one)

SuperAlignments are used by engineers to do fancy design.. (more expensive license, I think)

old alignments are IP method only...
SuperAlignments are IP and/or element method the later allows you to specify elements rather than IPs...
eg
I want the CL to be offset from a boundary and clear a power pole by xx meters or maintain grade from start to a point in space so when the start moves the entire road moves on grade. Link up few super alignments and you can move entire intersections in one hit..

simply put...
Cheers

So you say a Superalignment is a Holden becasue it does not need to be Fixed Or Repaired Daily
