The 12d CAD options down the left hand side are the easiest way to draw a string.

Hi Matthew,
You need the 12d "visualisation" module to shade a Supertin in perspective.

Do you have this module?
To check, go to the "Help => About 12d Model" panel and have a look at the modules you have on your 12d license.
