If using v10 (?) and depending on your 12d configuration deleted models are sent to the Trash bin until purged. I think that is the default.

therwise deleting a model is the equivalent of deleting a file from disc. Will need to look at your backup.

Steve hunter has answered this query a few times on the DESIGN forum.

I think that contour smooth ticbox did nothing much on lidar data becuase the numberr of points (trias) is massive so mathematically doing some averaging over many points close together doesnt do much.

Basically 12D need a little lag time after each fiddle with the dwg format to catch up with whatever autodesk changes. Its all proprietary/secret stuff so they dont help you out.
