WARNING
There are Microsoft bugs in Windows 10 for OpenGL.

So if you want to use Windows 10 then you should avoid using OpenGL Plan or Perspective views until Microsoft fixes their bugs.

There are many software packages that use .pts as a format.
Leica Cyclone is one of them.

If no one has told you what software package the data came from and what the format the file is in, then it is all trial and error and all you can do is try and edit the file to see what it looks like.
