I don't know if it is the only way, just the first one I thought of. I still can't figure out why you want 1000 pt IDs all the same. How do you identify a particular pt if is doesn't have a unique ID? And if you don't need to identify it, why are you worried about vertex ids? If on the other hand yo...

You have a string with multiple vertices that you want to name identically? It seems to defeat the purpose of identifying them doesn't it? What am I not understanding? You can go through on a point by point basis and change them individually or if you do have a lot of them I would export the points ...

You can't do it from 12d, you need another piece of software. Did you get any other software with your GPS? I use a freeware program called Trackmaker http://www.gpstm.com/ I've never tried uploading waypoints, you'll need to tinker with the format but I think it takes Lat/Long/hgt, but it is excell...
