You should try double clicking it to fit view.

Do you need to copy them in to edit them or are they just to reference? Could you share them? Set them up to share from the master file and then in your sub-project you can select all the ones you want to add at one time.

When you say it won't let you do it, do you get any warnings or notifications, or it just fails?

Does that do what you wanted?

If you do a String Inquire you can start by typing P and then continuing to type the point id you want, your chosen point will be conveniently zoomed to and highlighted for you. How's that for service?

Have you tried opening it? Projects often have the lock symbol shown in the startup panel but aren't in fact locked at all.

You have a string with multiple vertices that you want to name identically? It seems to defeat the purpose of identifying them doesn't it? What am I not understanding? You can go through on a point by point basis and change them individually or if you do have a lot of them I would export the points ...

Try Utilities>Super Strings>Vertex ID

Check the box that says "Replace existing vertex IDs"

You create the function when you import/create a field file. Those survey edits are then written into the function.

If you just want to create a new string use Strings>Create or use one of the CAD options from the toolbar.

You can't do it from 12d, you need another piece of software. Did you get any other software with your GPS? I use a freeware program called Trackmaker http://www.gpstm.com/ I've never tried uploading waypoints, you'll need to tinker with the format but I think it takes Lat/Long/hgt, but it is excell...
