12d compatibility with Trimble Business Centre

Post by Jacob Lewis Ostwald »

Hi all,

I'm looking to import my 12d files into Trimble Business Centre, however I haven't had too much success.

Has any had any experience with this and perhaps knows how to? any help would be much appreciated!

TBC has average python scripts for 12da data interface

Export to dwg/dxf and read that into TBC

Not sure of the end game here, but the best way to do it from a survey perspective creating Machine Control models...

Alignments - 12da (only format that give geometry)
Design Strings - dxf (don't use 12da it segments every string and you end of with thousands)
Tins - ttm (I find this more reliable than 12da)

You cannot have near vertical walls in your tin - make sure your design offsets them at least 2mm (I think but I always use 5mm)

If the ttm comes in with extra triangles, you can guarantee there are crossing breaklines (even when created by an mtf in 12d), go back to 12d and fix these.

Other than that, setup your design in TBC and you should be able to export Earthworks, Siteworks, SCS and GCS all in one go.

For Machine Control Files ive had success with trimble file flipper

Output files as dxf
