Rail Design - Virtual Transitions

Post by George Fleming »

Trying to add in a virtual transition to my Rail Alignment due to the fact my project PSR requirements do not allow bends (on slewed track), this has meant that I have had to design in large radius curves to reduce the track slews against the existing alignment. Part of the standards stipulate that I will be required to provide a 13m (bogie length) virtual transition length at a minimum to show the cant deficiency:

e.g

Tangent Track length
Virtual Transition - 13m Length
Curve - Radius between 10000m to 20000m
Virtual Transition - 13m Length
Tangent Track length

I am able to determine the rate of deficiency on the curve utilising the new calculate cant panel but unsure how I can go about adding in these virtual transitions into the model. Anybody have any ideas? my thinking is that these would not be an actual element perse but something I can apply the attributes to (would be great if there could eventual be an option sitting within the cant panel).

Thanks,
George
