Creating a tin

Post by shaun jeneke »

HI GUYS,
I HAVE 2 TINS WHICH I WANT TO MAKE AS I TIN. THE 1ST TIN IS THE NATURAL SURFACE AND THE 2ND TIN IS A PAD DESIGN.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO CREATE 1 TIN WITH BOTH TINS' INFORMATION ON IT?

Shaun,
You could create a Supertin, (Tins>Create>Supertin), this is a list of tins to display together in descending order of importance, i.e. list your tins from the top down, so you would have the pad 1st and the NS 2nd. You can use the Supertin to extract volumes only by using a cross-section method but they are good for a quick look.

Your other option is to cut a hole in your NS data and drop the Design data into it and then tin the lot. The easiest way to do this is:
-Create a boundary polygon, Tins>Boundary, around the design tin.
-Use the polygon to fence out a copy of the NS data, Utilities>Fence>Fence (If you only fill in the model for the fence outside the polygon this will make a copy of all the NS data outside the design bounary and put it all in one model for you, without altering the original NS data)
-Create a new tin with the fenced data you just created and the design data for your pad. Voila!
