nodes.4d Error

Post by Matthew Niejalke »

I have a single user who is experiencing a problem with 12D. When he starts 12D he gets an Error Authorizing Release Version message box appear and the message:

nodes.4d: error -206: cpu line is missing for matching dongle

I'm new to 12D so not sure what the message means and cannot find details of the error online or how to resolve it.

The nodes.4d file is kept on a shared drive and seems to be working for everyone else.

Thanks
Matthew

You can get this error if the dongle driver has not been installed.
Is 12D a new install or first time your running it on this PC?
The dongle driver is a separate install file and often gets forgotten about.

Otherwise its likely the env.4d. The shortcut can reference this file so maybe copy both files from a working PC.

If not referenced in the shortcut it will likely be found under c:\program....\12d\12dmodel\10.00\Set_ups

You need to look at the rest of the information in the Error Panel.
Is there a dongle number ?

If not then he/shey isn't seeing a dongle and so there is nothing to match in the nodes.4d file (in V10 you will get a big red box on the Error panel to point this errror out).

If no dongle is seen then

(a) is there a dongle actually attached
(b) have you loaded the dongle drivers ?
(c) is it a network dongle - have you modified the env.4d file to say it is a network dongle ?
(d) what sort of USB port is it ? We have some USB 3 ports on Dec computers that don't seem to work. If that is the case, plug the dongle into the Combined port on the Dell computer.
