The Auto Recalc Mode for a Function sets a flag for that function that defines whether it can be recalced automatically. The recalc is done from the Recalc All option (Utilities->Recalc->Recalc All). That panel re-runs all functions that have had their auto recalc flag set. There is an additional o...

Owen Thornton wrote:You should be able to convert the ascii version of the PPF (.lplotppf.ppf) to a binary version (.lplotppf) which is usable in the practise version. I have never tried this, but it should work. See: Plot=>Plot and PPF Editors=>Convert ascii to binary.
This did indeed work, thanks.

Are you using the practise version? The format of PPFs are different (intentionally) between the practise and release versions. Yes, I am trying out the practice version of release 9. The .ppf file is the one that I downloaded/installed with the practice version so I thought it would work given the...

John, do you mean page 219? Page 209 is only about quick plotting, not PPF plotting. I just Read the installed file C:\12d\10.00\Training\design\getting started basic\Long Sections.lplotppf into the Section Long Plot PPF Editor , and it looked just like the manual. Works the same in V9 as in V10. O...

Not sure about the videos, but the Getting Started course notes are available in PDF from the 12d website: http://12d.com/aus/resource_portal/learning_tools/v9-documentation I am working through it now :) I am trying to work out how to print a long section (to a model). On page 209 (of the getting ...

I don't use Recalc All at all. For an explanation, see here: http://forums.12dmodel.com/viewtopic.php?t=6091 I would probably use chains these days. Most people would (should?) be doing the same. It really is a much more efficient way of recalcing, particularly for design changes. I can't access th...

You're almost there. As with most things in 12d, there's usually more than one way to do it, so I'll just explain how I would do it. Thanks for the explanation. Assuming your cul-de-sac alignment has full horizontal and vertical geometry on it, I would create an Apply Many function for just the cul...

Cul-de-sac design process

I am trying to work out how to create a cul-de-sac from start to finish in 12d. I'm familiar with doing this in CivilCad and in that the cul-de-sac editor is buggy and useless, so it was pleasant to see the 12d one gives a decent horizontal geometric layout at least. In CivilCad my methodology for d...

No way of changing the points limit for the practise version (at least not without re-programming), but I thought the Getting Started course notes included tips for staying within the 5,000 point limit. If you look in the Preface of the notes, there should be a section called "Using the Practi...

Could you not just run the Strings => Label Vertices => x,y label mode once to achieve the same outcome?
