Can't edit string/superalignment

I'm trying to add chainage to a superalignment - but 12d isn't letting me select the string for anything. I've already applied an mtf and generated a tin for the road so is it because i have already done this that I can't access it anymore?
The project was shared to me from a group member if that helps for whatever reason.

You cannot edit data shared into a project. You must open the source project (or copy the shared data locally).
