Plotting Perspective OpenGL view

Post by Nicola Dolan »

Hi All

Just wondering if there's a plot function for creating a high resolution perspective view?

I have been doing screen dumps, which is fine for showing small images in documents, but I have been asked for a perspective view that can be blown up to about A1 size for a presentation

I have also tried plot to pdf, but when its finished plotting I cant find any pdf file, so Im not sure if this works for perspective views?

I believe you can plot to higher resolution in v12 but I'll have to chase up how to do it

Oh ok, I've only just upgraded to V11 so its probably going to be some time before they upgrade us to V12

Something for you to look forward to - as long as I can find out how to do it :)

The process is a two step one.

On an OpenGL Plan or Perspective view

Menu->Settings->Tile

It is right at the bottom. (Yes ignore the lousy option name).

The option produces a raster element which you can then plot.
The final resolution of the raster is based on the initial view size. If the view is

640x480

you enter the plot factor of 2, you get

1280x960

you enter the plot factor of 3, you get

1920x1440

Once you have the raster, you then include it in your data to plot.

Hi
I'm trying to plot a perspective view as part of a Multi Page Plotting set. Plan and Long Section plot fine but I can't work out how to plot a perspective view. I have saved perspective view favorites for what I want to plot.

Have you tried creating a Perspective frame?

Also worth noting that the env.4d setting DEFAULT_RASTER_DPI_4D controls the overall raster print quality, so you may need to adjust this in conjunction with the 'High res factor' field on the Perspective frame to get the result you want.
