File Sizes

Post by Matthew Ayre »

Hi!

I have been provided a survey file for a project with a size of 73,000kb. With the data, i have modeled a new mine pit design and created a TIN.

With the TIN of the site and a TIN of the pit design, i have created a superTIN which was then contoured and smoothed.

The file size is now a huge 2,200,000kb and is crashing my computer.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to reduce the file size?

You could probably keep your existing survey and tin in one project and just share the tin into your design project.

Is it actually crashing or are you running out of swap space on the computer ?

Are you running 32-bit Windows or 64-bit Windows ?

How many points are we talking about in the project ?
Have a look at how many points are in your models but as a guess I would say the major amount of data will be the smoothed contours.
