View Toolbar with model selection etc is missing from some views

Post by Lachlan Drake »

Hello,

I have had a few issues with the view toolbar with model selection etc not showing in some views, previously restarting 12d would fix this. I have restarted both 12d and the PC but no luck. Is this an internal setting in 12d that I'm missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Lachlan

What build of 12d Model are you using (12.0C1u, 14.0C2h)?
Can you provide a screenshot of what you mean?

Hi Graeme,

See image below, please note this issue is occurring on a fellow engineers system not mine, but we ran the same build and it has happened on my PC.
The toolbar in question is highlighted.

What do you mean by "model selection"? All the buttons are there.

Is it when you pick on the "+" button, no models appear in the list?

Get your fellow engineer to update to C2g or C2h.

This has happened with different versions over many years. I find it frequently leads to a view that can't be returned to the top of the stack, ie. you can click on the tab for that view and it will not come to the fore on screen and there seems no way to retrieve it short of minimizing any other view that sits in front of it. Prior to v14 when there used to be a main menu option for Windows in the top level menu you could sometimes access it but this option seems to be lost now Windows are subsumed under Views. Normally my last resort is restarting the project and it should reset but Lachlan seems to indicate even that is not working.

Hi Bernard

Sticky views is a different issue to missing view toolbars.

Missing view toolbars as been resolved in the current build of V14.

For the sticky views issue, use <CTRL><F6> to cycle through each view one at a time until you get to the view you are after.
Delete the problem view and create a new one can help with the issue.
The programmers are aware of this.

HI Graeme,

Fair enough, it hasn't happened for a little while and I had the feeling that the 2 issues often happen at the same time.

Yeah, Ctrl F6 worked a charm. There was a lot less cursing this time.

Interesting to note, if you try scrolling too quickly using <CTRL><F6> there are still issues, you can shoot right past some models, and not necessarily the original one you had problems with.

Reverse of <Ctrl><F6> - toggle in reverse.
