12d v14 OpenGL view
Hi,
I am a new user of 12d and I am having an issue with the OpenGL view. It seems I cant load anything into this view, but can load everything into the normal perspective view. I have given this project to a coleague and can open load the file 100% in OpenGL view.
Is there a setting or a drive on Windows 10 or 12d that i should be changing/updating?
Cheers

It could be the graphics card you have, that does not offer sufficient support for OpenGL.
On startup, are you getting any errors listed in the Output Window, regarding OpenGL? If so, 12d Model might be disabling OpenGL views on your machine.

Hi Owen,
I can confirm that this Graphics card is suffiecent enough. I have colleagues with the same computer and they can open it fine on my project.
Im not getting any errors in the OpenGL configurations, and I have just confirmed that it is reading the latest Open GL driver versions aswell.
Is there a way to check if 12d Model is disabling OpenGL?

If you are not seeing any errors in the Output Window on startup, then 12d is not disabling the views.
Clutching at straws ... is your OpenGL view on your secondary monitor? If so, can you try to create a new OpenGL view on your primary monitor?

Hi Owen,
I have just tried this and unfortunately still no win. Thanks heaps for your help. I will keep digging and hopefully we can find the solution.

Hi Kaliym
There can be many reasons why the graphics is failing.
Are you using a desktop, laptop or tablet?
How many monitors do you have and how are they connected to your device?
Are you using a dock or similar device to connect the monitors?
Run this option
Project =>Management =>Dongles =>Authorization details
Press the Email support button. Then email this to support@12d.com.
(If your default email system does not work for this, then press the Save to file button and email me file lic????.zip from the desktop)

Re: 12d v14 OpenGL view
I'm having dramas with OpenGL today too. Views are just empty.
I updated windows yesterday so possibly something to do with that?

Re: 12d v14 OpenGL view
some of the latest windows updates have caused issues with graphics cards, few users had to manually upgrade their graphics drivers to regain full functionalityGary Masterson wrote: ↑Wed Oct 28, 2020 2:47 pm I'm having dramas with OpenGL today too. Views are just empty.

the strange thing is that not all PCs are experiencing this, even identical hardware imaged machine next to each other don't experience the same problems, one updated and all is fine the other has outdated graphics drivers, really odd

Re: 12d v14 OpenGL view
Hi All,
I can confirm the issue has been fixed. I have gone back about 15 nvidia drivers (February) to a version a colleague has and now it works perfectly.
The version I have dropped back to.
Version: R440 U6 (442.50) WHQL
Release Date: 2020.2.27
Thankyou all for your help.
Cheers

Re: 12d v14 OpenGL view
Hi All,
I'm replying on this thread because I have the exact same problem.
- 12d v14.0C2k
- New Dell Precision i7 laptop (using an HP dock due to stock shortages)
- with 3 display adapters for Dockign station, Intel, and Nvidia Quadro P620
- Nvidia driver updated to the latest version
- I set the Global settings on the Nvidia Control Panel to use the high-performance Nvidia processor
- also customised the 12d.exe to use that same processor, so basically doubling down
...and no change. Nothing comes up in the Perspective Open GL window, even when closed and a new windown opened...
Any help will be appreciated.
Cheers, Jimmy.

Re: 12d v14 OpenGL view
not sure what it is but would try
a) check Nvidia Control Panel - does it have a setting for PhysX processor and is it set to Quadro P620? - in my experience the Auto mode doesn't play well with multiple monitors
b) is 12d model on the primary monitor - if you drag the software to another monitor does it start working?

Re: 12d v14 OpenGL view
Thanks Sam. So, I changed the PhysX processor as you said but nothing happened.
Then I went back into the Nvidia Control Panel and clicked Restore Defaults as a final attempt at realising all my tutu-ing might have comlicated things. Anyway, something has shaken loose and it now works. Go figure. Everything set to auto-select.
Thanks for your reply, it wasn't working before you replied and now it is so you've helped!

pleased to hear that

Re: 12d v14 OpenGL view
we had this issue in office as well. happened on this desk but not the other.... Would you believe it was the docking stations in use.
We have 3 recent variants all from Dell which are delivered with the laptop
In the past I have updated the docking station driver - but on this instance the user just updated the desk they were sitting at

Re: 12d v14 OpenGL view
It is no surprise that there is a problem with docking stations.
Docking stations should be avoided if you want decent graphics and speed unless they can be guaranteed to support high speed OpenGL graphics for all monitors going through them.
I believe Sam found similar "slow down" problems with cheap cables.
