How can i work out areas for Cut to Fill?

Also is it possible to work out a volume for a polygon within the design area other than doing a volume by grid?

Hi Ben,

You can get a volume between tins within a polygon area either in exact or end area by inducing the polygon options. You can select apolygon you have drawn or draw one youself (rectangle, trapezoid or lasso).

Part 2.

To get an area of cut/fill use Tins > Tin Analyisis > Depth Range Polygons.
You will need to create asimple range file e.g -1000 to 0 = Red and 0 to 1000 = Blue.

This creates closed polyons which you can then report areas of either by string inquire or Report > Length/Area.

why are some of the areas that the report file outputs negative

if i was to sum these in excell should i take the absolute value or should i leave them as intergers?

also can i report on just some of the depth range polygons or parts of the - ie within a boundary polygon of sorts?

Ok to find the areas use
Tins -> Tin Analysis -> Depth range polygons
then
User -> Miscellaneous -> A to C -> Calculate areas of coloured polygons

Yes use the absolute value...
negative areas happen due to string direction...
