Translating to many known points

Post by Paul Wood »

Is there a simple way to translate a known shape size to many different points for plotting purposes. We have done a pickup of 1000's of pit centres, and would now like to add an outline with correct levels to the centre pickup. We can translate the pit outline one by one, but I need to know if there is a quicker method.

V12 can explode symbols, so if you create the shape as a symbol, you can apply it to all the pit centres, then explode the symbols and then drape them to your tin to assign the levels. (I imagine some of the symbols might need rotating, too.)

A picture (example) of what you have and what you want to achieve, might help on this one.

Assuming you've picked up the pit type, size, and rotation as attributes, then you can use this info to apply Symbols via a Map File.

Then, as Owen mentioned, explode and drape.
