Hi,
I am a new user to 12d and am interested in utilising 12d for the compilation of hydrographic surveying data sets.
We are currently using 12d to present drawings as below however we do not present ‘soundings’ as such, only contours.
I would like to present our data with more in line with hydrographic nautical charting standards using 12d.
I would like to know if 12d is capable of presenting soundings as shown below in metres and decimetres rounded down. Eg 25.98 becomes 25.9.
Sounding
Additionally running a ‘clash’ routine to determine the shoalest sounding within a particular region and then present that sounding value without overwriting adjacent soundings.
Lots of places are still using Terramodel and the Hydrographic Data Management System (HDMS) to compile hydrographic drawings. I really feel that if these HDMS features were available in 12d it would be great. If anybody out there knows more about this please provide me with some advise.

Looking the your example of a sounding value, how do you know where the sounding actually is ?
I see a little dot inside the box which I presume is the (x,y) location of the sounding.
But wouldn't that dot vary for every sounding depending on the width of each number in the font, which actual number is it, how may digit before the decimal place, the number after the decimal place ?
Years ago I thought people used a decimal point and the decimal point was the location of the sounding.

from my experience some software packages don't exactly follow the rules, and most deliverables describe their methodology and as long as it sort of follows it is generally accepted, decimal point or not
not sure if all port authorities follow similar methods, but

My understanding of the gravity position being the centroid of the extents of world size text label
(that is the sub-fix decimal and the whole integer, including the -ve sign for dry spots)
the spec also talks about the density, contours, features that are fully submerged and those that are dry at times
as you can tell, the precision of these is very coarse compare to typical survey/civil work, they round to the side of the safety factor
better to show a shallower depth than rounding to a deeper and increasing the grounding risk
