Grade or Height between 2 strings

I’m looking for a method to select two different strings and 12d produces a dimension documenting either the grade between the 2 strings, or the difference in height.

That's pretty close.

The report shows the information I was after, however I was hoping the information could be presented in the model as a dimension, like the attached screen shot.

I think you will need to draw a construction string doing what you want.
Then do a leader for that string/segment.

If that's what you are after it is simply a matter of drawing a line between the 2 strings, then labeling it
